Discover DALIRESP
What is DALIRESP?
DALIRESP is a prescription medicine used in adults with severe COPD to decrease
their number of
flare-ups (exacerbations). DALIRESP is the first in a class of medicines
called PDE4 inhibitors (phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitors).
DALIRESP is not a bronchodilator and should not be used for treating sudden breathing
problems. Your healthcare provider may prescribe another medicine to use
for sudden breathing problems.
What makes DALIRESP different?
- DALIRESP is the only medicine of its kind — it works differently than other available
COPD medications
- DALIRESP is a tablet that is taken once a day
Can DALIRESP be used to treat sudden breathing problems?
No. DALIRESP is not a bronchodilator or a rescue medicine and should not be used
for treating sudden breathing problems. Your healthcare provider may give you other
medicine to use for sudden breathing problems.
Will I feel a difference in my breathing with DALIRESP?
You may not feel a difference in your breathing with DALIRESP, but that doesn’t
mean it is not working. DALIRESP is for people with severe COPD, to decrease their
number of flare-ups or worsening of COPD symptoms (exacerbations). You should continue
to take DALIRESP to reduce your risk of future exacerbations.
How will I know if DALIRESP is working?
DALIRESP reduces the risk of experiencing future exacerbations in patients with
severe COPD. You may not feel DALIRESP is working, just as if you are taking blood
pressure or cholesterol medications, you may not feel them working. Exacerbations
are serious events that can worsen your COPD. Even if you don’t feel anything, taking
DALIRESP once every day can help patients with severe COPD experience fewer exacerbations
over time.
